RESEARCH
As INHABIT Lab's practical work becomes ever more centred on residential architecture, we see knowledge based research in this sector as an important source of intellectual fuel for the engine of innovation and growth for future projects. Much of this research is undertaken to further our knowledge about sustainability principles that can be integrated into our projects, including knowledge of low carbon intensive materials and innovative systems to use in a specific context. Issues surrounding the current affordable housing crisis also form part of our ongoing research in this sector. We aim to greater our knowledge of new housing models that not only incorporate sustainable features to reduce the impact and cost of construction on the environment, but also help to empower residents and connect them to outside resources, with designs that show greater respect for human scale and a stronger connection to the street and the wider community. |
